Streets & Sanitation Laborer
Public Works Department

Pay Range: $15.00 – $16.00 per hour

The City of Pickens is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and community-focused individual to serve as a Streets & Sanitation Laborer in our Public Works Department. This essential role supports daily sanitation collection and street maintenance operations that help keep our community clean, safe, and well-maintained.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is ideal for someone who values teamwork, reliability, and hands-on work. The successful candidate will:

• Assist with residential garbage, recycling, and yard debris collection.
• Perform manual labor including loading debris and operating basic tools and equipment.
• Support street maintenance, pothole repair, and right-of-way cleanup.
• Assist with storm cleanup and special event preparation as needed.
• Follow all safety regulations and departmental procedures.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions as part of a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License required.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lift 50+ pounds.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to work outdoors year-round.
• Experience in public works, sanitation, or construction preferred but not required.
