By popular demand, we’re excited to offer a Railroad Spike Knife Making Class! In this intermediate to advanced course, students will forge their own custom knife from a higher-carbon railroad spike, known for its durability and toughness.
What You’ll Learn:
- Drawing out and profiling the blade
- Shaping and refining the cutting edge
- Twisting the handle for a unique, forged aesthetic
This class is perfect for those looking to expand their blacksmithing skills and craft a functional, handmade blade from start to finish.
Class Details:
Date & Time: July 31, 2026 • 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (7 hours of instruction with a 1-hour lunch break)
Class Size: Limited to 5 students
Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older
Cost: $150 per student
What to Bring & Wear:
- Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt are required while forging for your safety.
- You may wish to bring a T-shirt and shorts to change into after class, as forging can be hot and you’ll likely be covered in forge scale and soot.
- Safety glasses (must bring your own)
- A water bottle
- Your own lunch (or take the opportunity to explore the site during the break)
