City of Pickens Addresses Water Meter Configuration Error, Implements Immediate Corrective Actions
Pickens, SC – August 15, 2025 – The City of Pickens is notifying residents of an error in the configuration of newly installed water meters provided by Consolidated Pipe & Supply. While the City specified the correct configuration settings in advance, and Consolidated Pipe & Supply certified those settings in their software prior to delivery and installation, it has been discovered that the meters were not properly configured.
As a result, the most recent water bills sent to customers are incorrect; however, only a portion of the accounts were impacted.
City officials are taking immediate steps to address the problem and ensure residents are not financially impacted:
1. Bill Adjustments and Credits – All customers will receive a credit for the difference between their invoiced amount and the minimum water usage for the month.
2. On-Site Technical Correction – Consolidated Pipe & Supply is dispatching an emergency response team to Pickens to reconfigure all affected meters and prevent this error from occurring in the future.
“Our residents’ trust is a top priority, and we want to be transparent about what happened and how we are fixing it,” said Isaiah Scipio, Mayor of Pickens. “We acted quickly to identify the issue, and we are ensuring customers are credited appropriately.”
