Pay: $20.00 – $21.00 per hour

Job Summary
The City of Pickens Water & Wastewater Treatment Department is seeking a dependable and motivated Utility Technician to join our team. This position assists with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems to ensure safe, reliable service for our community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance and repair of water distribution and wastewater collection systems
- Help install, repair, and maintain water lines, sewer lines, valves, and hydrants
- Operate equipment used in water and wastewater system maintenance
- Assist with water meter installation, repair, and reading
- Perform routine inspections of system infrastructure
- Respond to water leaks, sewer backups, and service calls
- Assist with maintaining pump stations and related equipment
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate service records
- Follow all safety procedures and City policies
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, digging, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in water distribution, wastewater collection, or public works
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or ability to obtain
- Ability to obtain South Carolina water and/or wastewater operator certifications

Work Schedule
